State Of The Nation Address (SONA)

The State of the Nation Address (SONA) is a constitutional obligation and yearly tradition, wherein the chief executive reports on the status of the country, unveils the government’s agenda for the coming year, and proposes to Congress certain legislative measures.

The SONA, which is often broadcast, serves as a means to inform the nation about its present economic, political, and social condition.

With the introduction of jamming devices that overpowers the cellular signal during special events like SONA, CONTEL has been the trusted 2-way radio communication tool by TV and Radio Broadcasting Networks in NCR, for their field and studio news reporters for the past 3 Presidents SONA’s which started during President’s Arroyo’s administration.

Despite the pandemic, coverage of President Rodrigo Duterte’s last and final SONA was made possible to be aired on TV and radio programs last July 26, 2021, using Contel’s 2-way radios by field reporters.
